Kerrigan Byrne Books in Order: The Victorian Rebels Reading Guide

Byrne's world works like a shared criminal underworld: the hero of one book is the terrifying cameo of another. Each romance stands alone, but read in publication order you watch the Rebels collide, feud, and grudgingly save each other's lives across the whole run — then the baton passes to the Goode sisters and the Devil You Know women. Fair warning: these books are dark, intense, and firmly on the steamy end of historical romance.

The Victorian Rebels in order

1. The Highwayman (2015) — Dorian Blackwell, the Blackheart of Ben More, kidnaps the woman his dead friend loved. Except nothing about that sentence is what it seems. The series' beating heart.
2. The Hunter (2016) — A professional killer is hired to eliminate an actress and makes the career-ending mistake of falling for her first.
3. The Highlander (2016) — The Demon Highlander, feared by the entire British army, meets his children's suspiciously mysterious new governess.
4. The Duke (2017) — A soldier-duke and the nurse he once knew for a single night, meeting again as hostile neighbours.

Seducing a Stranger (2019) — also published as A Dark and Stormy Knight — is the bridge book: Chief Inspector Carlton Morley's story closes the Rebels era and opens the Goode Girls era in one go. There is also a later novella, The Earl on the Train, for completionists.

The Devil You Know trilogy in order

Same universe, new energy: three brilliant, unconventional women — the Red Rogues — who swore off marriage together at school.

1. How to Love a Duke in Ten Days (2019) — A scandal-haunted scholar and the icy Duke of Redmayne strike a marriage bargain with rules. The rules do not survive.
2. All Scot and Bothered (2020) — A mathematician inherits a notorious gaming hell; the Lord Chief Justice of England disapproves. Intensely.
3. The Devil in Her Bed (2021) — The trilogy's revenge plot comes home, with a masked vigilante countess and the man investigating her.

Where to start

Start with The Highwayman — it is the book that made Byrne's name, and Dorian Blackwell casts a long shadow over everything after. If you prefer Highland grit, The Highlander works as an entry too, though you will want to circle back. Once the six Rebels are done, read Seducing a Stranger, then take the Devil You Know trilogy and the Goode Girls in whichever order tempts you — they run on parallel tracks in the same world.
